News source ESPN Dallas-Fort Worth Texas. Richard Durrett. Arlington Texas. Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is eager to mentor the Rangers newest pitcher who Yu Darvish on how to pitch to the batters in the Major Leagues in 2012.
Maddux said he will mentor Darvish who came to the Major Leagues from Japan the same way he has mentored all of the Rangers pitchers. Maddux said "But I think he'll want a little more information. That's the culture--love information, love video. We found that out with Yoshi [Tateyama] last year. I'll show him how to do it. We'll be there every step of the way. It's going to be fun. I think Yu has proven has proven to be one of the top pitchers in the game of baseball around the world. It is going to be a very. very good addition to our pitching staff. We lost a big piece of our staff in C J Wilson. He'll help ease that loss."
Wilson signed on a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last month. Darvish will have a chance to impress his new team when he takes the mound in Sunrise Arizona in February when spring training will be starting.
