Obama Admin Blocks Bank Investigations?

A significant number of Jews are settled in the United States. They are educated and influential. It is believed in the US that no president can enter the White House without the blessings of the Jewish lobby. The community plays a significant role in politics of the country for its influence and hold on media houses and economy of the country. Each presidential candidate tries to win support of the community before he/she enters the contest.

In the 2008 elections, the community was first reluctant to support the Democrat Barack Obama for his Muslim antecedents but later they were convinced with approach of Obama and voted him. It may be not true to say that all of the community members voted to Obama in the last election but it could be safe to opine that majority of them did so. The community considered Obama – like many others in the country – a change setter and thought he would help them resolving dispute with Palestine.

Israel is one of the largest aid receivers of the US and the country is always supported and funded by the US administration for the strong Jewish lobby in the United States. As Obama is about to complete his term in the office and all set to contest for his reelection in the upcoming election, the Jewish community in the country is not happy with policies of the president.

Israel and Jews settled in the United States feel that Obama administration hardly did anything to allay concerns of the community it is faced with from ambitious Iran and extremists of Palestine. They have been pressing Obama administration to take ‘necessary measures’ against Iran to halt its nuclear program but nothing concrete was done. The community also feels that Obama administration failed to squeeze Hamas and Hezbollah – both the outfits are considered to be hostile to Israel.

Amid all this, another controversy has brewed in the US as Center for American Progress (CAP) has been alleged by several Jewish organizations of the country to use anti-Semitic language against the community. Center for American Progress is considered to be a liberal think tank closely associated with the White House. The community has alleged the center for attacking pro-Israel Americans being lesser patriots to the United States.

The controversy came to light after one of the CAP writers tweeted on his personal account as “Israel-firsters.” Some of the linguists and experts have said that the phrase has been used in the anti-Semitic connotation that means that American Jews are more loyal to a foreign country. Though it is nothing surprising or worrisome but some Jewish organizations have protested against the phrase and CAP. They have also demanded a corrective action.

Once again, Jews of America are convinced that Obama administration has failed to protect the community from discrimination within the US and specifically Israel from external threats. Therefore, they may decide to support the Republican candidate in the upcoming election and definitely it would be fatal for Obama.
