The Dangers Of SOPA

“SOPA is an unconstitutional, dangerous waste of time – that is, a violation of the First Amendment that won't achieve its ends, and could cripple the Internet with its provision that sites could be liable for any pirated material posted on their online premises,” says Fordham University media professor Paul Levinson via e-mail. No site can possibly police every post – text or video – for adherence to copyright, he says.

The most troubling aspects of the proposed legislation are the provisions that would allow sites to be shut down if accused of sharing copyrighted information. While it is important to protect copyrighted information, SOPA "would dramatically change the way the Internet works, and for the first time put the government, and potentially special interests, in control.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, is joining millions of others in the fight of the SOPA and PIPA bill proposed by Congress. One of Paul staffers of the Daily Paul website stated:

"Today, the Daily Paul stands in solidarity with thousands of websites across the Internet that are striking against censorship."

"On January 18, The Daily Paul will join Wikipedia, Reddit, Twitter, BoingBoing,, The Free Software Foundation, and tens of thousands of other websites around the Internet in going dark to oppose SOPA and PIPA, the looming US legislation that would create an impossible Internet censorship regime and export it to the rest of the world."

As stated in this video with Paul in 2007 as he was running for GOP nominee, Paul himself stated "I dont want to tax the internet" I dont want to regulate the internet" and if the government starts to try to regulate the internet this is a bad sign he stated. This was back in 2007 and now its 2012, this day the federal government is trying to regulate the internet. Paul is preaching that the government is trying to take away our constitutional First Amendment Rights. We must as all people stand up against Big Government?

Ron Paul only GOP candidate to publicly denounce SOPA? So who are you voting for to protect your Freedoms?
