Italy Cruise Ship Costa Concordia Runs Aground

Breaking News: the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia runs aground in Italy. This is really a tragedy in every sense of the word, with the cruise ship running aground on the first night of the cruise in Italy. Reports now coming out that passengers on board weren't allowed to get into life boats at first. Also some people on board the Costa Concordia have said for at least 45 minutes the ships crew denied there were even any problems. Here's exactly what happened according to the news... A cruise ship the Costa Concordia ran aground off the western coast of Italy at Giglio island. At least three people were killed and rescuers were looking for other victims Saturday after a large Italian cruise ship carrying more than 4000 people, ran aground overnight, took on water and tipped over. At least three bodies were recovered from the sea and at least three additional persons were feared dead, and helicopters were working to pluck to safety some 50 people still trapped aboard the badly listing Costa Concordia, said Coast Guard Cmdr. Francesco Paolillo. Paolillo said it wasn't immediately known if the dead were passengers or crew, nor were the nationalities of the victims immediately known. It wasn't clear how they died. The Italian news agency ANSA reported that some people had jumped overboard in the scramble to evacuate the ship, which had just begun a Mediterranean cruise.
