Story Line: Set at a Catholic school in the Bronx, it centers on a nun who grows suspicious when a priest begins taking too much interest in the life of a young black student. Is she being overly protective or not protective enough? And can she work within the system to discover the truth?
My Thoughts: I thought this movie had a very interesting story line, but really would of liked to see more to this movie than what it showed. The movie was just blah to me, and I hate when Oscar nominee movies do that to me. I wonder why they chose this movie. I know it has a great all cast but that is all that the movie had.
Acting: Meryl Streep plays Sister Aloysius Beauvier. I really think she is an amazing actress but her character in this movie was so blah that I was glad that she didn't win the oscar. It's a pitty I could of just imagine what she could of done to spice up her character.
Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Father Brendan Flynn. I actually think he had a great role in this part, but again I would of loved to see him spice up his character in this movie. Also glad he didn't win for this movie.
Amy Adams plays Sister James. It's amazing with all the oscar nominations this woman has had out of all the movies in this world this one was part of why was she even nominated. Don't get me wrong I like Amy Adams, but some of the movies she's been nominated for was to me the last person I would choose to win. Only her role in the Fighter did I think she should of won.
Bottom Line: I would not suggest to go buy this movie tomorrow or anything, but if you have nothing else to rent you may like this movie. Especially for those who do like the more serious films. I give this movie a 4 out of 10.
