Jakadrien Turner, a 14-year old non-Spanish speaking Dallas teen runaway who was deported to Colombia, will be handed over to U.S. diplomatic officials Friday. Family members are ecstatic that the teen is returning home after having searched for her since she ran away in the fall of 2010.
After Jakadrien went missing, the family tracked her to Houston where she worked at a club under a different name. They later learned she was in Colombia with the help of Dallas police, when Grandmother Lorene found Jakadrien on Facebook under a different name, partying and smoking marijuana and now pregnant. How she got to Colombia was a mystery to the family.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement maintains Jakadrien was arrested in Houston for theft when she told them she was an adult from Colombia. The agency says authorities believed her story because she maintained her false identity throughout the criminal proceedings. Jakadrien was then handed her over to an immigration judge, who ordered her removed from the country.
The family's attorney, Ray Jackson, says it doesn't make sense. "I don't buy that she had the wherewithal to be able to bamboozle the government," Jackson says. "You know, kids are scared when they get around authorities. ... To think that you could bamboozle them to create a new identity, it just doesn't make sense," according to a report in CNN News.
A Facebook page allegedly created by JakadrienTurner under the name TiKa SoloToolonq gives hints that perhaps she wasn't an innocent 14-year old teen girl. Jakadrien aside from sticking with her false identity during the criminal proceedings in Texas, also claims that she worked for the Convergys corporation and attended Texas Southern University. Her Facebook page also states that she is in a relationship with a man named Alejandro Yoel Almeida Cisneros, who lives in Colombia but is originally from Cuba, has kush and orange juice for breakfast and has had sexual relations with other females, the last of which she is not necessarily proud of.
