This is a warning to all those who plan to travel towards the eastern coast of India around Chennai – cyclone Thane is scheduled to strike the region on Friday morning with wind speeds of up to 100 Kmph. There would be gusty winds, heavy rainfall and temperatures would go up. The cyclone would, subsequently, head towards Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. There is no Tsunami warning for cyclone Thane but in 2004, on Christmas Eve, Tsunami did strike in the same area and caused deaths of hundreds of people apart from loss of properties. The scars have not yet healed.
