Michael Pitt heads Prada Spring Summer 2012 ad campaign!

Fashionistas and fans of Michael Pitt, Prada is featuring him for their SS12 ad campaign!

With his hair slicked back and impeccably groomed, musician and actor Michael Pitt was indeed an apt choice for Prada to head their Spring/Summer 2012 menswear ad campaign.

Looking at his shoot for Prada, I see a very young Brando in him that was of obvious appeal to the upscale fashion label…

Shot by shutterbug David Sims, the campaign features the suave 30-year-old Pitt as a 1950s style icon during Hollywood’s golden age.

Prada’s press release, on choosing Pitt for the campaign states: “explores the language of male role models from the rock star to the playboy, from the self-reflective introvert to the engaging and humorous farceur.”

Handsome young Pitt and the 1950’s ad campaign also serves as commentary on the contemporary man, who according to Prada likes to work when he plays and plays when he works!

Confused? Don’t be but the normally rougher-edged, if sometimes a little grungy, Pitt reportedly turned down Prada for their 2005 Miu Miu ad campaign, saying that it would interfere with his macho image.

Though some believe that it has something to do with his latest girlfriend Jamie Bochert being a model, Michael Pitt is no stranger to the fashion world.

He was spotted with his sister Stacey Pitt at Y-3 Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show during New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion at 82 Mercer in September 2011.

The Prada ad campaign as featured on Michael Pitt features fitted 50’s style suits, accessorized with stylish cravats as well as playful prints for summer. While the collection may be an acquired taste for some men who are more comfortable with greys and blacks, the selection works well on Pitt!
