News sources Associated Press, Wkipedia and SI.com. Chicago Illinois. The Chicago Cubs officials on Monday announced the signings to one year contracts to relief pitchers Andy Sonnanstine and Manny Corpas.

Both pitchers signed one year contracts that are not guaranteed split contracts. Terms of the contracts were not made available to the public.

Sonnastine 28, pitched both as a starting pitcher and relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays. He played five seasons in Tampa Bay with a record of 28-31 with a 5.26 earned run average (ERA). Sonnastine made 80 starts and 52 relief appearances with the Rays.

Corpas 29, made his Major League Baseball debut as a member of the Colorado Rockies in 2006. He became the Rockies closer in the middle of the 2007 baseball season. Corpas did not pitch in the 2011 baseball season since he had Tommy John surgery in his pitching elbow in the fall of the 2009 baseball season. Corpas record with the Rockies in his time with the team was 12-16 with 34 saves and a 3.93 ERA.
