SSS tackle police over Mrs Amaechi auto-crash

EMMANUEL UDOM

Last week Tuesday, Mrs Amaechi, wife of the governor of Rivers state escaped dead by the whiskers, while heading for an official event around Elekahia in Port Harcourt

Feelers have it that on that fateful day, a police patrol team escorting expatriate workers from an oil company operating in the state attempted to overtake the convoy of the first lady of Rivers state and in the process bashed her car.

Our correspondent learnt that some soldiers attached to the convoy of Mrs Amaechi refrained from opening fire on the vehicle of the workers, which could have resulted in a bloody encounter, even as SSS operatives challenged the police corporal that was escorting the workers for his reckless driving

Sources alleged that the police officer simply ignored the SSS operatives, while boasting that Babaginda is bigger than Amaechi wife. This statement rattled the governor, who was said to have fingered assassination attempts on his wife, even as security officials in Rivers are said to be doing everything humanly possible to sweep the incident under carpet, even as Ben Ugwuebulem, a deputy superintendent of police and spokesman for the River state police command said he is not aware of the incident
