In a revelation of sorts more than two thirds of women in Gloucester, considered the “cougar capital” of UK, accept the fact that they are “cougars,” informs a survey by social networking site Badoo.
This compares with a national average of 52%, though 70% did admit that they had contemplated having a relationship with a guy who was much younger to them.
It may be noted here that cougars are basically older women who date much younger boys or what is known as toy boys. According to the survey nearly 12% of the women disclosed that they actively “hunt” out younger guys for a fling.
The Badoo poll surveying a sample 2,000 women discovered that Aberdeen and Glasgow had the second and third largest cougar populations respectively. In Aberdeen 62 percent and Glasgow 61 percent of the women revealed that they had dated younger men.
The Cougar Syndrome seems to be rampant next at Southampton, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Oxford, Swansea and Leicester.
Meanwhile not just in Britain, even in Hollywood the Toy boy phenomenon seems to have mushroomed in recent years. Some of the famous celebrity examples are the star pairs like Ashton Kutcher-Demi Moore, with Jennifer Lopez and Madonna not far behind.
But it may be noted that it is not just merely the obvious physical aspect of the relationship that is appealing to older women, stated Badoo website.
According to these older women friendship, fun and boost to self-confidence when seen in the company of younger guys is what makes such kind of relationship an enticing proposition.
Moreover, even social networking sites have aided and abetted this trend, with older women becoming bolder in making the first move virally.
