L-R: Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann

Update 12/19: USA Today On Politics says, "Paul's rise comes as Newt Gingrich fades. The former House speaker has dropped nine percentage points nationally since the beginning of the month, according to the Gallup daily tracking poll."

Original post 12/18: A Press Release from Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows Ron Paul leads in Iowa polls while Newt Gingrich spirals down fast due to his lack of campaigning in the state.

Twitter is buzzing with Ron Paul supporters celebrating and asking "what will the mainstream do with this information?"

Red_Pill_Media Rise of Ron Paul Proves The Establishment Media is Not All Powerful . They’re scared because they know the game is up. http://t.co/GGPcBbZG

Currently, taking the lead is Ron Paul at 23%, Mitt Romney at 20%, and Newt Gingrich trailing both way down at 14%.

Meanwhile, a three way tie goes to Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry all side-by-side at 10%.

Jon Huntsman takes 4% and finally Gary Johnson sits at the bottom with 2%.

PPP points out that spending time in Iowa campaigning has proved crucial in moving up in the polls. They report, "voters say it's 'very important' that a candidate spends a lot of time in Iowa."

PPP's website reads, "PPP is best known for putting out highly accurate polling on key political races across the country." It goes on to say, "Testimonials: The Wall Street Journal ranked PPP as one of the top swing state pollsters in the country during the last Presidential election."

Comment:

BrianHorsfield MSM is ignoring this.

As Iowa looms, playing field suddenly shifts for Romney

You have to dig far into the article to find their evidence to support this headline:

"The most recent average of Iowa polls by RealClearPolitics placed Gingrich in first with 23%, followed by Paul with 18.7% and Romney at 17%."

Romney is all over the CNN politics page with 5 mentions in the headlines of the top 12 political stories. Paul has one, and it's:

Perry 'taken aback' by Paul's comments on Iran

I can find almost no mention of this poll yet on any major media!

PPP is about to lose all endorsements, all attention, be stripped of its rank, receive a poor rating, and be threatened to go out of business for this outrage against the mainstream media.

Hahahah! wonderful article, miss Ealy.

Now the attacks will begin in earnest. Steph, you will need to report on the facts concerning the newsletters and the good Doctors free medical treatment for people of all races. Also, the NAACP official that personally defended him on such charges. The MSM and Neo-Bloggers will be relentless with this drummed up charge. THe "Ignore " stage is over, the "Attack" stage has begun.

Steph...great comprehensive and informative article. I believe, from the political analysts I have listened to today...that you posed a great question and the answer is...no black-out; but attacks. Paul is seen by straight right-wing GOP'ers as a caricature (not my words - those of the press) They feel he is getting his 15 minutes in the "anyone but Mitt" race. The intensity of the candidate and passion he provides is strong - but some of his statements are a bit too libertarian for the mainstream. Thanks again for the great article.

The media is still attacking. The only place that I heard even analyze Rep. Paul's lead is on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." It's funny that the media has been hyping up Mitt Romney for the past six months, but he still stays at 20 percent. GOP, please do not vote for Mitt Romney!

It will be interesting to see what Gov. Johnson decides regarding the Libertarian bid.
