Guinness World Records has declared Jyoti Amge, a girl from India, as the shortest woman in the world. She is 18 years old and her height measures 24.7 inches i.e. she is just a little more than two feet. A ceremony was held this Friday in Nagpur, India, at her 18th birthday in which she received the title of the shortest woman in the world. Earlier she was known as the shortest teenager.
Jyoti is a high school student and plans to continue her studies. She feels happy to be known to the whole world because of her exceptionally short height. She has a very positive attitude towards life and considers herself as a source of bringing fame to her native city. "I have put Nagpur on the world map. Now everyone will know where it is," Amge expressed her views after getting the title.
Jyoti wants to become an actor and wishes to be a popular Bollywood star. She thinks Indian film industry is the place where she can fit in and show her talent. She is very conscious about her dressing and style and takes interest in life like any other girl of her age. She has been regular in her studies since her childhood.
Her family is also very happy for her to get the award from Guinness. They take her short height as a privilege for her. Her 18th birthday got more special for her because of the award. “It is wonderful to celebrate my 18th birthday with a new world record; it’s like an added birthday present,” Jyoti said at the ceremony.
Jyoti has proved that anyone with such kind of extraordinary uniqueness can lead a normal life too. It's just the way of thinking that makes life a good or a bad experience. “I feel grateful to be this size; after all, if I weren’t small and had not achieved these world records, I might never have been able to visit Japan and Europe, and many other wonderful countries,” she says about her height.
The Guinness team also appreciated her spirit with which she is living her life. "Jyoti encourages us all to look beyond mere size and to just celebrate our differences," Guinness judge Rob Molloy said in his statement in the ceremony.
Her pictures are floating on the internet and have become of great interest to people everywhere.
