Five persons, three of them hand cuffed and in police custody brutally shot dead while 6 others injured in a firing incident at district court premises of Pakistan Administered Kashmir’s Southern district of Bhimber on Thursday.
According to eye witnesses, some handcuffed accused persons were being brought for their presentation in district court Thursday morning. As soon as they reached the court, some unknown armed persons opened indiscriminate firing killing five persons on the spot and injuring 7 others.
The wounded persons were shifted to hospital immediately. The attackers managed to escape from the scene. Those who were killed included 2 prisoners and 3 passersby are stated to be residents of Tehsil Barnala of Bhimber district.
Police said the incident could be outcome of some old enmity. However police had started search operation to nab the culprits. Contrary to the overall peaceful atmosphere of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bhimber district bordering with Gujrat district of Pakistan’s Punjab province is hub of criminal activities.
