
Four people were killed and 64 injured when gunmen fired and threw explosive devices on the main square of St. Lambert, in a first official death toll given by a last official legal source
One of the two deaths is one of the alleged gunmen, the source said. This would be Nordine Amrani, a man known to police, the newspaper Le Soir.
The situation is now under control, police said.A young man aged 16 would also died of his injuries, according to several media. Le Soir, for its part says that a child of two years is now between life and death at St. Joseph Hospital. They also reported a strong deployment of police and a chase through the streets near the square.
The incident occurred around 12 h 30 local time, on the main street of the city, which is close to a busy Christmas market.
Mobile communications have been disrupted in Belgium, because of a too large volume of calls.
