As US President Obama has launched his electioneering advertising his performance during the whole tenure, he is yet missing a card that may prove to be a boon for his reelection. It is high time for President Obama to cash in on the issue of gay marriage and assure the respective community that necessary legislation would be made to provide legal cover to their activities.

The gay marriage card can come in handy because both Republicans and Democrats direly need maximum public support that may only be achieved through giving them assurance to fulfill their basic demands. In fact, during the last election, Obama’s party had not supported the idea of gay marriages rather had ignored this particular segment of society just because the reason they had disliked their idea of marriage equality.

But with the passage of time, the community gradually gained public support and now stands at a point where a considerable portion of the population is in support of gay marriages. Contrary to Republicans, the Democrats have already started gaining their support as Hillary Clinton recently announced that gay rights are also human rights, assuring them that they would have their own identity in the society.

Though she has not yet announced to support gay marriages, she has hinted at playing a positive role for their rights in future. President Obama had been heading towards supporting gay marriages, but has been reluctant to take a bold decision due to one or the other reason. But there is a great change in his stance on marriage equality as previously he used to strongly oppose the concept but now has expressed willingness to ponder over it.

For some time, President Obama had been consulting with his legal team on the very issue and he himself was also studying it. Even if Obama announces it in any of his public address that a serious study is under consideration, he can surely win the support of gay community. Though Obama feels no threat of defeat in the election, the support of the community can prove to be a plus point for his party.

It is also a fact that independent candidates comprise a considerable share of US congress and if any presidential candidate wins their support, he or she has maximum chances of getting the top slot. Keeping in view the importance of independents, Obama should approach them individually assuring them of taking necessary steps for allowing gay marriage because almost sixty percent of them are in support of marriage equality.

Now as the number of supporters of gay marriage has increased, the Republicans may not be able to cash the position as they had done during the previous elections because now Obama is almost ready to take the bold stance. Now the opponents of the gay marriage is in a very small number that, according to the critics, can make no difference to Obama’s position, so it is direly needed he should go for supporting the demand of marriage equality.

i guess Pres. Obama will be in the lime light of the critics if ever he continued to pursue this kind of matter. We can consider the fact that gay men are still a part of the community. But at the end of the day, some are still confused or in favor with those kind of same sex relationship. At the end of the day, if he will continue it, he will be good in the eyes of those who belong to those kind of status. But, the Catholic Church is still a part of that said community and should also be consulted with all those kind of matter.
