Zenit-St. Petersburg advanced to the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time ever by securing a nil-nil draw against Porto at the Estadio Do Dragao. Zenit ended up in second place with nine points, while Porto finished third with eight points in Group G of the Champions League Group Stage.

Even though Porto pummelled Zenit with 25 shots for the entire match, they were all stopped by Z-SP goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev. He made about five or six remarkable saves to keep the score knotted at zero. Zenit decided to play defense for the entire match as the team did not have any shots on goal. However, that gamble paid off as Porto could not place the ball into the net.

Here are the starting lineups from the match. Porto went with an offensive-minded 4-4-3 formation, while Zenit-St. Petersburg selected to go with a defensive 4-5-1 formation.

Porto -- Goalkeeper: Helton. Defense: Otamendi, Maicon, Rolando, Pereira. Midfielders: Defour, Fernando, Joao Moutinho. Forwards: Hulk, Djalma, James Rodriguez.

Zenit -- Goalkeeper: Malafeev. Defenders: Lombarts, Hubocan, Criscito, Anyukov. Midfielders: Shirokov, Fayzulin, Denisov, Danny, Semak. Forward: Lazovic.
