Former boxer Thomas Hearns headlines inductions into the boxing hall of fame

News source Associated Press. Canastosa New York. Former boxer Thomas Hearns nicknamed The Hitman and Motor City Cobra who was the first boxer to win four boxing titles in four different weight divisions headlines a list of 13 persons elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Other inductees include ring announcer Michael Buffer who is known for his "Let's get ready to rumble." line, trainer Freddie Roach, boxer Mark Johnson, journalist Michael Katz and boxing announcer Al Bernstein.

Posthumous inductees includes in the promoters division Hugh D. McIntosh. Pioneers division Rip Valenti and James Wharton.

Inductees were selected by a panel of international boxing historians and members of the Boxing Writers Association.

The induction ceremony will take place on June 10, 2012.
