Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, was arrested Friday night in Aspen, Colorado, on charges of cocaine possession and assault, according to Aspen police spokesperson Blair Weyer.
The mother to the pair’s two-year-old twin sons was arrested outside Aspen’s Escobar nightclub on suspicion of felony cocaine possession. Brooke Mueller was also taken into police custody for third-degree assault after allegedly attacking someone at a different nightclub nearby.
According to a statement by a representative for the Aspen Police Department, Friday night at approximately 11:32 PM, law enforcement officers were “on a routine walk through” at Belly Up Aspen when they made contact with a woman who claimed Brooke Mueller had assaulted her.
Officers then found the TV star at Escobar dance club shortly after midnight and arrested her on charges of assault in the third degree (class one misdemeanor) and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute (class four felony). No other details were available.
Chief Deputy Assistant District Attorney Arnold Mordkin declined to comment on the arrest and said, “It is alleged that she had in excess of 4 grams of cocaine, gross weight.”
He added that the police would not release details of the assault that allegedly happened at Belly Up, where a Sublime tribute band was performing at a sold-out show, and would try to get hold of security footage of the alleged assault.
However, Brooke Mueller posted a bond of $11,000 and was released from the Pitkin County jail early Saturday. Her court date concerning the arrest was scheduled for December 19. Mueller's lawyer, Yale Galanter, had no comment. He just said that he was waiting for more information.
It is not the first time Brooke Mueller, 34, of Los Angeles, has been involved in drug-related incidents, but she had remained sober in the last few years in an attempt to form a close, working relationship with Charlie Sheen.
A close friend of Mueller commented on the recent incident, saying, “How do you help someone like Brooke? Her parents even moved to Los Angeles to take care of her and help her take care of her kids, and that didn't even help. With this latest development, her friends are beyond caring anymore."
Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller tied the knot in May 2008 and have twin sons, Max and Bob, who were born in March 2009. The split Hollywood couple continues to battle over custody of the twins. A source told Us Weekly in August that the parents have been "getting counseling and therapy [with] the boys" and Mueller, who has struggled with substance addiction, is "actually responding to treatment."
