As a dance ceremony, as the name "Baris" is derived from the word which can mean the troops marching dance depicts the dexterity of soldiers.

This dance is a dance group that performed by men, usually danced by 8 to more than 40 dancers with a lively movement quite sturdy, simple and dynamic, with the accompaniment of Gong Kebyar and Gong Gede. Each type, group dancers carried weapons, ceremonial equipment and costumes with different colors, which later became the name of the types of Baris dances that exist.
