LAGOS A Nigerian footballer of 20 years died after complaining of pain in one arm while playing a game with friends.
The Nigerian club Bayelsa United striker said Aruwa Ameh died nearly a week after being hospitalized in Kaduna, a village where he was visiting his family. He was pronounced dead on Monday in a local hospital.
Team spokesman, George Ameli, told the AP that the cause of death unknown.
He noted that the club, which is based in the village of Yenagoa, Ameh received information that went to the hospital for pain in the arm "and never returned."
Ameli said Ameh was the top scorer of the first division of Nigeria in 2007.
