Philippine - Mexican First Lady Margarita Calderon made a special visits in the Philippines last November 23 , 2011 . It began with a personal visits by laying a flowers at the tomb of former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Cory Aquino.
After that the Mexican First Lady also payed a courtesy call to the President Benigno S Aquino III at Malacanang and was honored with a lunch reception hosted by the Philippine President and Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario , members of Cabinet and Legislatives. In the evening she will meet with the Philippines officials which was hosted by Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines Tomas Calvillo.
On November 24 , 2011 , the Mexican First Lady will visit the famous tourist spots here in the Philippines like Fort Santiago ( which in the history of the Philippines it was built by the Spaniards hundreds years ago) , Nayon Kabataan Shelter for Children , and met Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon Soliman , Health Secretary Enrique Ona and Education Secretary Armin Luistro to discuss Mexico's programs for the protection and Welfare of Children , and prevention of Drug Addiction qand National Census for People with Dissabilities .
Her visits will be capped by a cultural gala hosted by Senator Edgardo Angara which will showcase or list performers of Cultural Center of the Philippines., and the launching of the " Dia del Galleon" ( Galleon Day ) Commemorative Stamps. Dia del Galleon is the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) instituted commemoration of the Manila -Acapulco Galleon Trade which was celebrated by the Philippines and Mexico on October 8.
The Mexican First Lady's visits follows a visit to Mexico by Secretaries Soliman and Luistro last May 30 to June 3 who led 17 members delegation to study the " Opportunities " poverty alleviation program for the benchmarking of the Pangtawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program ( 4P's) the conditional cash grand program for the poorest municipalities.
In the same period , Secretary Ona led a delegation of the Philippine Health officials to study Mexico's " Seguro Popular" ( Public Health Insurance ) program in the thrust to attain 100% health insurance for all filipinos.
Both the Opportunities and Seguro Popular are considerd successful models for social service program for their hight possitive impact and effective results in their goals of providing assistance and services to the poor.
