For any real democrat in any part of the world, internment without trial of political prisoners is an insult to democracy, a political tool that belongs with the concentration camps of Nazi Germany and as such should be fought by all so called lovers of democracy. The un-elected Englishman who is Her Majesty's Secretary of State in Occupied Ireland, has interned several Irish republicans without charge or trial, simply because they oppose peacefully, British occupation in Ireland.

Most notable among the interned are Marian Price, Gerry McGeough and Martin Corey. In Marian's case the courts ordered her release but this un-elected Englishman in Ireland, ruled on the same day that she be politically interned, overriding the sham justice system and a scum state Parliament, without any opposition, with a token Nationalist party in Power called Sinn Fein, who are supposedly meant to represent the interests of their former comrades now interned with broken promises and dreams of a dumped GFA. Other than mild bleatings from a very junior spokesperson and token protests from a few other half-hearted feeble groups, there is really no organized party to take up their cause. The political community world wide are totally ignorant about political internment in Ireland because British counter-revolution and censorship has been successful.

The only Party at senior level to seriously challenge on behalf of these interned political prisoners, has been the two middle class parties of the SDLP and to lesser extent Fianna Fail in the south, the rest has been token half hearted mutterings with the exception of well attended march in Dublin and CAUSES in Facebook sabotaged by the British and their collaborators in Ireland with dis-information and technical sabotage of the Facebook accounts of promoters..

Pat Ramsey the SDLP Foyle MLA called on the unelected Englishman in Occupied Ireland, the unelected Queen's Secretary of State to use all the resources of his office to find the Royal Prerogative of Mercy granted to interned Marian Price which has been conveniently ‘lost’ by the British at the NIO!

In a letter Mr Ramsey of the SDLP wrote, he said;

‘I write regarding the continued detention of Marian Price due to your revocation of her licence. It is my understanding the her legal team have been told her Royal Prerogative of Mercy document has ?been lost? by the NIO.

If indeed this is the case, surely the Government have procedures to verify if a document was issued at one time or another, or a copy of the document can be found. If this was to help Ms Price?s legal case then your Office should undertake to use all resources available to it to find the document or to verify its validity to her legal team in their deliberations on her continued custody.

It is in the public interest that the NIO now be seen to act impartially in this matter and that Ms Price be granted access to the same level of justice as any other person, and with that in mind I would emplore you to ensure that your officials are acting to secure, without prejudice, Ms Price?s access to justice. I am not a solicitor, but I am told her pardon overrides your authority to revoke her license.

You are no doubt aware that it is my opinion that Ms Price is being held without charge and without cause because it is politically expedient to do so, and that I believe if the NIO are seen to be complicit with what is essentially internment, it will serve only to damage the ongoing work of the Assembly to move forward.’

Mr Ramsey also said:

“I was dismayed at the news that the piece of paper that could secure the freedom of Marian Price who is currently in solitary confinement in Maghaberry has essentially been lost in the care of the NIO. My understanding is that the pardon granted to Ms Price overrides the authority of the Secretary of State to revoke her license.

I have always maintained that Ms Price should immediately be released from custody, and I have raised that continually with the Justice Minister and will continue to do so. If this document can secure Ms Price’s freedom, then the Secretary of State should be ensuring that everything possible is undertaken to find it and end this farcical situation.”

Contemporary Irish history, which I'll define here as that period from the early 1900s to today, is literally crowded with prison protests and hunger strikes
