
Abu Dhabi : Friday Nov. 25, 2011 Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in only T-20 cricket match at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka openers Tharanga & Dilshan started the Inning very well. They both were looking aggressive and achieved 30 runs only in 3.2 overs. At this stage Aizaz Cheema clean bold Tharanga. Next Lankan batsman Dilshan (28) who lost his wicket at Saeed Ajmal ball at 61 runs. The key batsman Sangakkara (9) couldn't play a long inning and lost his wicket by Mohammad Hafeez. After 10 overs Sri Lankan score was 91/3. Next two Sri Lankan batsman left the crease being run out. In 19th over Cheema send 3 batsmen back to pavillion. Umar Gul bowled the last over and took two wickets on 2 balls. And thus Sri Lanka all out at 141 runs in 19.3 overs. Umar Gul is on hatric now.
Pakistan openers Mohammad Hafeez & Imran Farhat started their inning to achieve the target of 142 runs. But the openers pair couldn't make a long partnership. Pakistan lost their first wicket of Mohammad Hafeez (13). The next batsman Imran Farhat (19) send back to pavillion by Mendis. Umar Akmal couldn't add any single run in Pakistan target and was bold by Dilshan in 5.3 overs. After losing 3 wickets at 44 runs, captain Misbah & Asad Shafiq played a good inning. But Asad Shafiq who scored 33 runs to helped Pakistan to achieve the target was clean bold by Malinga in 14.5 overs. The next batsman was Boom Boom Afridi who played aggrissive inning and scored 22 runs only on 15 balls. In second last over of Fernando, Boom Boom Afridi hit 2 sixes. But at the last ball of second last over Afridi lost his wicket. In the last over of Malinga, Pakistan need 9 more runs to win. And at last Pakistan achieved the target still 3 balls remaining. Aizaz Cheema who took 4 wickets at just 30 runs was rewarded Man-of-The-Match. Pakistan had already won the 3 Test matches series by 1-0 and 5 ODI matches series by 4-1. After winning the only T-20 match Pakistan achieved the 6th ranked position from 7th.
