A Karachi based religious conservative party Sunni Tehreek strongly opposed the appointment of Sherry Rehman as Pakistan’s envoy to the United States.

Talking to media a leader of the Sunni Tehreek Shahid Ghauri said Rehman is among those following policies of the US and the Jewish lobby as she was in the forefront to get country’s blasphemy law abolished to please her foreign masters.

“We are quite unsatisfied with the decision of federal government to designate Sherry Rehman as ambassador to Washington as she is not fair with Islam or the country,” he said.

Last year Ms Rehman was threatened with dire consequences when she tabled a private member bill in the National Assembly of Pakistan suggesting amendments to the blasphemy law.

The religious leader urged the government to appoint a person as envoy whose loyalty to the country and commitment with Islam is beyond any suspicion.
