JAKARTA – The Team of Judges of South Jakarta District Court has acquitted the defendant of the alleged sexual harassment case Anand Krishna. Anand has been proven not to have committed the sexual misconduct as charged.

“We declare the defendant not proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the first and second charges. We acquit the defendant of both charges,” said the Chief Judge Albertina Ho, at South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (22 November 2011). In addition to his acquittal, Judge Albertina also declares the restoration of the rights and dignity of Anand Krishna in her decision.

The Team of Judges disagreed with the Prosecutor’s demand of 2 years and 6 months imprisonment. The sexual misconduct charged against Anand Krishna was not proven. In the meanwhile, in response to Anand’s acquittal, the prosecutor still thinks about it. “I still request the guidance from my superiors, I cannot yet take actions,” said one Prosecutor Ine, who substituted Prosecutor Martha Berliana Tobing today.

After being acquitted, Anand’s sympathizers cheered to celebrate the acquittal of their leader. Those men and women were overwhelmed and moved by their emotions. The women were seen to be hugging each other and the men shaking hands in Oemar Seno Adjie main court room.
