An orchid that blooms only for one night was discovered on an island in Papua New Guinea and Oceania.

Of the thousands of orchids available, the nocturnum Bulbophyllum is the first of its kind to be identified by science.

The plant was discovered by botanists for a trip to the island of New Britain (New Britain Island) in the Bismarck Archipelago, located in the Pacific Ocean.

Researchers say that the reason for which the plant developed this behavior remains unknown.
