According to sources, police have arrested Shelby A. Dasher, mother of a one-year-old whose body was found in a cemetery near their suburban house in St. Louis, Missouri.
According to the officials, mother of Tyler Dasher, Shelby was arrested and taken to the St. Louis County Justice Center.
News reports state that Shelby Dasher’s arrest is on charges of suspicion of first-degree murder of her one-year-old boy whom she had reported as missing.
Police sources said that 20-year-old Shelby A. Dasher reportedly killed her son after she “became very, very angry.”
The boy’s body was found on Tuesday, when, after he had been reported missing by Shelby earlier in the day, investigators escorted a person who reported seeing a child's body to the scene to confirm. The body was transported to St. Louis County Police Headquarters in Clayton, a suburb of St. Louis.
Seven members of Shelby A. Dasher’s family were interviewed late Tuesday night.
Shelby was reportedly arrested early Wednesday morning and was then escorted to the edge of a wooded cemetery near the River Des Peres where the boy’s body was buried.
According to the St. Louis County Justice Center, Shelby Dasher is being held behind bars on a 20-hour hold. This means that if evidence isn’t brought in by this time slot, she will be released.
The jail official also stated that she was not officially booked at the time of the arrest and no mugshot was taken.
On Tuesday, Tyler Dasher was reported missing from his home around 11 am by his mother who said that she overslept that morning and discovered him gone from the crib when she woke up.
The baby’s body was discovered by dog walkers at 3:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon near a cemetery. The body was found 10 miles away from where their house is.
The body was examined by experts who said that they could not identify the cause of death immediately.
Shelby A. Tyler and her husband were living separately and both cooperated with the police on the case of their missing child.
Nicole Howard, a cousin, told the paper that Dasher was a dedicated parent. "Shelby takes very good care of her son," Howard said. "She loves him."
Police said earlier that there were no indicators of someone breaking in to the house or any suspicious activity in the house. Tyler’s mother and grandmother were the only adults living in the house.
