Chinese Farmers Build Stadium out of Bamboo

The Beijing National Stadium has become an icon in a country with more than 1.3 billion people. The stadium is nicknamed "The Bird's Nest." For many peasants the real structure (Herzog & de Meuron) was just too far away so they decided to build a replica out of bamboo. They could have opted for steel but when you live on a few dollars a day it is hard to get. It took 10 people almost two weeks to put this together out of 800 pieces of bamboo. (It is scaled at 1:20). The locals want to use it for their own sporting events but don't know what you could fit inside...
