An international scientific study indicates a significant association between Parkinson's disease and known as an industrial solvent trichloroethene (TCE).
The researchers found that the risk of developing the disease is six times higher in people exposed to the solvent in the workplace.
The team, comprising scientists from the United States, Canada, Germany and Argentina, analyzed the medical records of 99 pairs of twins in the U.S. The exact cause of Parkinson's disease, which can lead to tremors of the limbs and problems with speech, is unknown.
