A 28-year old woman was subjected to a humiliating experience when she was strip searched by the airport authorities of Melbourne International airport in 2008. She was Brynne Gordon-Edelsten, a socialite, and she was to marry Geoffrey Edelsten, an entrepreneur.

Apparently, it is common for the Melbourne airport security to conduct such exercises when the person is suspected of carrying illegal substances – 48 such searches have been done by them during 2010-2011.

It seems Brynne had to undergo the torture of first a sniffer dogs – that search did not reveal anything. Therefore, she was asked to remove all her clothes and get video photographed in her birthday suit!!! That, reportedly, is the system.

The security later apologized and said that the video would be retained as a record and destroyed after one year.
