Turkey faces a 2nd quake in a fortnight

Reports of at least 7 deaths have been confirmed in the second earthquake of 5.7 magnitude that struck Turkey in less than a fortnight – the previous one of 7.2 magnitude on 23rd October 2011 took a toll of 300 lives.

25 buildings have crashed in the city of Van and most of these were not occupied. Two of these are hotels and evacuation of the trapped survivors is on – already 23 survivors have been rescued from the debris.
