Chicken Pox Parties? What’s Next, and You won’t Believe It!

Apparently chicken pox parties had been the rage by some parents who believe actually making their children suffer through them will boost their immunity.

But now these misguided parents have taken this event to a new, lower level. They are mailing objects that have been contaminated with the chicken pox virus to people who cannot attend one of their “parties.”

This was reported by a Nashville Tennessee TV station when a woman charged $50 to send lollipops with contaminated saliva from her own ill children to people who wanted to infect their children.

A Nashville prosecutor Jerry Martin warned that this is illegal and unsafe, according to a report in AP.

When my children had chicken pox, it was incredibly unpleasant and painful for them. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to purposely infect their children under the false belief that it's the right thing to do.

The most well-known symptom of chickenpox is a red, blistery rash that starts on the upper half of the body. Portions of the rash generally appear in waves, totaling 250 to 500 lesions. Blisters may appear anywhere on the body. (Picture from freefoto.com)

OMG! I feel so unpopular! I don't think I've ever been invited to a pox party! Could be the fact that I have no children, but that shouldn't impede an invitation! That does it! I am going to file for discrimination. It's because I'm not a daddy, isn't it? Isn't it?

I have a scar/small round indentation the size of a really small hole from a one-hole hole-puncher right beside my left nostril from the chicken pox and it is a constant reminder that I have already had them. During physicals, doctors never ask during the medical history intake if I've had chicken pox because unfortunately the answer is written on my face... well actually on the side of my nose!

I always learn something new from your reports Dava! Rated up!
