Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Quarterback Carson Palmer and Houshmandzadeh were teammates with the Cincinnati Bengals for six seasons.
Houshmandzadeh 34, played last season with the Baltimore Ravens but was unemployed this season. He was in Southern California working out with Carson Palmer this past year before he signed his contract with the Raiders Tuesday.
Houshmandzadeh is very familiar with Raiders head coach Hue Jackson who was Houshmandzadeh's wide recievers coach for three seasons in Cincinnati.
Houshmandzadeh has played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens before he signed with the Raiders. He is a veteran wide receiver who will be a mentor for the Raiders young and unproven wide receivers.
