Protesters from the Occupy Wall Street movement on Saturday

The New York authorities do not plan to ease out the Occupy Wall Street protesters by use of force – rather, they would deprive them of generators that the protesters had planned to use to operate the heaters to ward off the chilly winter that looms ahead.

While the police have come in for criticism for having resorted to use of strong measures like tear gas and stun grenades to evict protesters in Oakland, California and Atlanta, Michael BloombergMichael Bloomberg, the Mayor of NY has dreamt up a quite novel plan.

Generators run on oil and this is a potential a fire hazard – hence, no generators would be allowed to be used by the protesters who plan to camp out even during the winter months. Already six generators have been confiscated.

To counter this move of the Mayor, the demonstrators are planning to go in for an alternative – the solar powered generators!!!
