
Qantas announced in a statement Saturday that it was suspending all international and domestic flights with immediate effect due to a trade dispute.
The statement added that all employees involved in the strike would be disqualified from Monday night and that flights would remain grounded since 0600 GMT on Saturday.
The tensions between unions and management began in August Qantas after the airline announced a restructuring plan.
The flights will not resume until the unions do not reach an agreement with management over wages and conditions of workers who move abroad, say executives.
The airline says the strikes have cost more than U.S. $ 70 million.
Tens of thousands of passengers are affected more than a hundred aircraft are held in 22 airports around the world.
