The Organization of African Youth –Cameroon together with her partners in other African countries have launched a project dubbed YOUTH MEDIA. The project that started on October 1, 2011 will end on the 31st of September 2011.
According to a release signed by the Secretary General of the Organization of African Youth –Cameroon “Youth Media project aims to create space for youth voluntary interaction, youth workers and youth leaders in order to exchange experiences and acquire new knowledge, skills and competencies in the delivery of information campaigns for youth and development of partnerships and networks of youth organizations”.
According to Jude Thaddeus Njikem, Chairman of the Organization of African Youth –Cameroon, objectives of the one year program vary from the provision of opportunities of exploring how media can be used in youth activities, the acquisition by the participants of creative presentation and communication skills, identification of specific NGO/media relations.
“We also intend during the Media Youth project to increase transnational mobility among young people through direct involvement in project activities of youth organizations in Africa and Europe. To promote active participation of young people by involving them in project implementation activities” Jude told this reporter.
The release further states that during the project, local youth leaders will take part in workshops to acquire skills to organize a media campaign while each participant will organize a media campaign on human rights and the fight against racism and xenophobia.
