Libya: Fuel deposit blast kills 100 in Sirte

TRIPOLI: A fuel tank exploded in Moamer Qadhafi’s hometown Sirte killing more than 100 people less than a week after the deposed despot was captured and killed there, a military commander said on Tuesday.

“There was a huge explosion and fire. More than 100 people were killed and 50 others wounded” in Monday night’s blast, National Transitional Council commander Leith Mohammed told AFP.

The explosion occured when group of people were waiting at fuel deposit to fill their cars.

Some of the victims returned to the town, added by NTC commander.
