Kenya's military said its troops were based some 100 kilometres (60 miles) inside Somalia

Kenya warplanes have targeted Somali port city of Mismayo as troops advanced on the insurgents.

Teh aircraft targeted the al-Qaeda-linked fighters positions including a military base and the sea port.

Kenya sent soldiers across the border to hunt the fighters and blames for the abductions of foreigners on its soil.

There were no immediate reports of casualties and damages but the situation in the city is tense.
