Country legendwas reportedly hospitalized due to pneumonia and resultantly had to cancel a couple of concerts scheduled for this weekend.
According to her official website, Loretta Lynn was diagnosed to be in the early stages of pneumonia by her doctors who reportedly forced her to cancel her upcoming performance.
Loretta Lynn is 76 years old. She is most famous for her tracks “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “Don’t Come Home A’Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)”.
Lynn’s shows were scheduled for Ashland, Kentucky and Durham and North Carolina. The website reports that Loretta Lynn is not expected to be down for long “Loretta is doing well and is disappointed but feels confident she will be ready for upcoming November dates.”
According to sources, this year has been the first time Lynn has missed any performance due to health issues. In August, she had to skip performances and appearances due to knee surgery.
Another time she returned to live performances with a show at the Grand Ole Opry after being forced to cancel shows in Ohio and Connecticut because she was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.
Lynn gained massive popularity in the 1960’s with her track “Coal Miner’s Daughter’. Other hits included, "You Ain't Woman Enough," "The Pill," and "One's on the Way." In the last decade, she resurfaced by releasing an award winning album in 2004 which was produced by Jack White.
Loretta Lyx was scheduled to perform on Saturday at the Performing Arts Center in Ashland, Ky. and Sunday in Durham, N.C., but the Kentucky center issued a news release saying she is in the hospital and would be unable to perform. The Kentucky theater says the show will be rescheduled, however, the date has not been confirmed and will largely depend on how soon Lynn recovers.
As soon as the new of Lynn being hospitalized was posted on her official website, calls were made to her representative by news agencies which were not immediately answered on Saturday.
Lynn’s music is reflective of her life; her humble background and her experiences as a wife and a mother. She wrote her autobiography in 1977 which was translated into a movie.played the role of Lynn in the movie and earned her an Oscar.
Loretta Lynn has recently touched the 50 years mark in country music. She won two Grammy awards in 2005 for her album “Van Lear Rose”.
