Georgian fighter jets bombed positions in the breakaway region of South Ossetia overnight, local authorities and Russian media sources said Friday.
"Georgian SU-25 planes are dropping bombs on innocent civilians in the Republic of South Ossetia," a statement on the official website of the South Ossetian authorities said.
Russia's Channel One television reported that SU-25 fighter jets had been seen attacking positions in the breakaway province.
