An official read out a letter to the prisoner - he criticizes

Reading a letter from a prisoner has spawned a note at Riihimäki Prison officials. He opened and read the letter, which the prisoner was shown Helsingin Sanomat, the opinion column. The Ombudsman Petri Jääskeläinen, the procedure violated the freedom of speech broadly.

Prison justify reading it, that the prisoner was suspected of committing defamation letter to prison officials. Jääskeläinen concludes that the prison would have broken the letter of the journey to the outside world, where the contents would have been under suspicion.

The Ombudsman considers that the prison authorities do not have permission in advance to prevent the course of their reviews, even if the suspected violation of the honor to meet code.

He also points out that freedom of speech is intended to ensure open public debate and the ability to control the use of criticism. Freedom of expression also includes a prohibition of prior censorship.
