I got the opportunity to chat with Stu McNay, a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team, while he was waiting at SFO to board his plane to China, via his cell phone.
The Beijing Olympics have generated a great deal of buzz in the media over the last year, with little emphasis on the athletes and the events themselves. I got to speak with a real athlete. Stu McNay, along with Graham Biehl, are sailing in the 470 class event starting August 9th.
I found Stu to be very inspiring and approachable. He was very open about working hard to fulfill his dream to sail in the Olympics since he was a child. He started racing when he was 11 years old.
He reflected on the situation in China including pollution and algae bloom. He was very balanced.
He is really great and a genuine believer in pursing your passion in life.
In my view he is a true ambassador for the US Olympic team.
