The 20 days old ordeal of a young Colombian girl and her family finally comes to an. The President of Colombia Mr. Juan Manuel Santos gave the good news to the nation through twitter. He tweeted "Let's celebrate the liberation of Nohora Valentina. We thank the ICRC".
Nohoro Valentina is the daughter of Mayor of Fortul.
Nohora Valentina Munoz,10, was kidnapped by unknown persons while on her way to school with her mother on 29 September. The young girls mother was released immediately, but the captors held the young girl.
It was not known who the kidnappers are and what are their demands. But all fingers were pointed to the left wing rebels. An outcry by the people of Colombia and mass demonstrations forced the government to launch a massive search for the kidnapped girl.
Her release remains a mystery as no details have been provided as to who were the kidnappers, what were their demands and whether any kind of ransom has beeen paid. However, one thing is clear that ICRC did play its role in the release of Nohora.
