The Greens candidate for the presidency and the parliamentary group chairman, Pekka Haavisto, supported by the river Sang national park in Oulu.
"It is important that people have a recreation area near the river Sang-like forest, where the original nature and old-growth forest is still there," he said Monday while visiting Oulu Sang River.
According to Haavisto, protected areas is also good to be close to the cities.
"Sanginjoki give good opportunities for hiking and ecotourism development in the Oulu region. Hopefully, the National Project goes forward, and started logging in the region," he said.
The city has dealt with the protection of the river Sang this on many occasions, but the park has so far rejected.
