Fauia Singh at 100 years old must be the world's oldest martathon runner.
He completed the course of the SCOTIABANK Toronto marathon.
Mr. Singh finished the race in eight hours twentyfive minutes and sixteen seconds.
Twenty six miles is a huge challenge for anybody. At twenty two miles it looked as if Mr. Singh migh have to retire; but he battled on for another two hours reaching the finishing line in 3,850th. place and ahead of five other runners.
Mr.singh only started running seriously eleven years ago after the deaths of his wife and son.
He trains by running 10 miles every day and attributes his success to ginger curry, cups of tea and being happy.
He holds the world record for mens' over ninety category; after completing the 2003 marathon in five hours and fourty minutes.
He says " The secret of a long and healthy life is to remain stress free. If there is something that cannot be changed - don't worry about it. Be grateful for everything you have, stay away from people who are negative, stay smiling and keep running."
Born in Insdia in 1911 Mr. singh was afarmer in the Punjab when he first did a little running, but he only started running in earnest when he moved to the united kingdom fifty years later.
