The quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Osaka (hard outdoor) have been postponed to Saturday due to persistent rain, the organizers announced Friday.

Among the favorites still in contention, the French Marion Bartoli (seeded No.2) faces Japan's Ayumi Morita (N.6), while Australia's Samantha Stosur (N.1) is opposed to the South African Chanelle Scheepers (N7).

The other two opposite quarters defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand in German Angelique Kerber (N.3), and Czech Petra Cetkovska (N.4) to the Chinese Zheng Jie.
