Indonesia / Bali : 6.8 magnitude earthquake shakes Bali

Earthquake with a strength of 6.8 on the Richter Scale rocked Bali and beyond at 11:16 o'clock local time and make people panic.

Views of people who jump out of the house or building reported to occur at various points in Bali, including Denpasar, Ubud and Gianyar.

"We came out all because guncangannya hard once before," said Kadek Ariana, Singapadu village, Gianyar, about 12 kilometers east of Denpasar.

The majority of villagers who are craftsmen and souvenir jewelry silver ran out, but has now returned to work as usual.

"Only school children are sent home in the village, perhaps the fear of aftershocks," added Kadek.

PadatTelevisi private communication broadcast footage of the main streets in Denpasar which showed activity increased traffic as people opt out of the house after the earthquake.

Communication traffic via the cell phone service providers are also experiencing a delay due to the high interest of users to keep in touch after the earthquake.

Reported a number of buildings suffered minor damage in the provincial capital of Denpasar, as well as a number of minor injuries were taken to Sanglah Hospital for help.

But there is no record of casualties caused by this incident.

A few minutes after the quake, the Meteorology and Geophysics (BMKG) said the quake was centered at a location 9.89 south latitude and 114.53 east longitude. Epicenter was located at a distance of 143 kilometers southwest direction, Nusa Dua, Bali.

BMG also confirmed there was no potential tsunami from this earthquake although its strength is quite large.

The earthquake also reportedly felt as far Banyuwangi, Mataram, Surabaya, Malang even Jogjakarta.
