Senator Bongbong Marcos on Wednesday expressed extreme disappointment after President Benigno Aquino III stressed that there will be no state funeral for his father, former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos.
The young Marcos was not able to hide his anger and emotion over Aquino’s alleged politicking regarding the burial of his father.
Marcos said the President only played a vaudeville when ordered study made it ordered Vice President Jejomar Binay to make a study on the issue through a survey.
He said the Aquino administration’s refusal to give his father a state funeral is an act of dividing the country.
"This is not the act of a leader, is not the act of a head of state, is not the act of somebody who is trying to bring the country together but it is somebody who is continuing to promote a divisiveness of partisan politics," Marcos said.
Marcos said Aquino wasted the opportunity to unite the Filipinos because of his decision.
He said Aquino's mind had been closed ever since as to the state burial for the late president.
Meanwhile, Binay said he accepted the decision of the President and it should be respected.
"It is the prerogative of the President and we all must accept, respect and support his decision," Binay said.
According to Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, the issue is sensitive for President Aquino and Marcos family so he must respect and understand it.
Enrile stressed that the President is the son of the person killed during the Marcos dictatorship.
