Hamadan Taha, Palestinian Minister of Culture and Antiquities, said that the Palestinians will seek to include the "cradle of the Christ" in Bethlehem on the World Heritage List. This will be immediately granted aftertakes its full membership in the Organization of the United Nations and UNESCO.
It is planned after that. They will add other sites on the occupied land by Israel to be included within these sites too. He also confirmed that the membership of UNESCO is a natural right of the Palestinians. As Quoted by the Reuters news agency
Taha said that the membership of UNESCO is a message of justice and right .Thus this is considered as culmination of a long-term efforts during the past twenty years, so why should Palestine be outside the international system work?
He said that after obtaining the membership of UNESCO, Palestinian will resume quest for the inclusion of Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, where Christ was born, to the list of World Heritage sites. It was known that Palestine introduced with request this year, but the quest got rejection, because the Palestinians do not enjoy full membership in UNESCO, where the Palestinians get a member "observer" since 1974.
